Am I a candidate for Plastic Surgery?

To help you access your needs, we suggest you make an appointment for a comprehensive consultation with one of our qualified physicians. During your consultation our physician will discuss your expectations and determine your needs based on your individual situation.

What does "Board Certified" mean?

Plastic Surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons have undergone rigorous training and also have been evaluated by their peers on their practice of plastic surgery from both the technical and ethical perspectives. Board Certified Plastic Surgeons are recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties, which provides public protection through quality control in medical education.

Do you accept insurance and what types of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery procedures are covered?

SPS accepts most insurance plans, assignment from Medicare and work-related injuries. Coverage will vary from one health plan to another and our staff is ready and willing to communicate with your insurance company on your behalf to predetermine coverage of an anticipated procedure. In some instances it can require up to four weeks for completion. Our experienced Billing and Insurance Specialists will fully assist each patient with their surgical insurance claims.

Do I have to be "put to sleep" for surgery?

Patients may be put under general anesthesia if they and the physician deem it necessary or desirable to do so. Some procedures will not require a general anesthetic and may be performed under a local anesthetic or by means of IV anesthesia. (IV anesthesia relaxes the semi-conscious patient.) Your physician will help you determine which procedure is best for you.

Do I have to be hospitalized?

Depending upon the nature of the surgical procedures, the anesthesia requirements and the medical history of the patient, most procedures can be performed on an out-patient basis. Our Downers Grove office includes a state-of-the-art, fully equipped operating and recovery surgicenter which will allow added convenience and, in some cases, substantial savings for our patients.
